So, Friday was Chris’ 2nd day at the conference and Max and I were ready to tackle London again…but this time, we planned to take it a little more slowly. The three of us walked to a cafe by the Tate and had breakfast together, said bye bye to Daddy who was off to work, and then Max and I hung out there for a while, enjoying the riverfront views of London.

Max and Mom went for a great adventure to the Borough Market in our neighborhood this morning after breakfast. It’s a farmer’s market, but nothing like the ones in the States. I ended up going there three times, but never took any pictures (pictures from Flickr users below). It’s one of those places that you have to go to in person! It’s located under the railway and it’s really more like booths at a fair- each booth is very specialized…..a dairy booth with fresh milk and butter, a salt stand with a variety of salts, a chocolates booth with truffles displayed in wooden bowls, homemade sausages being grilled with onions on a small BBQ by the butcher’s family, lots of fruits and veggies, pastries, breads, wines, even a sangria stand! Surrounding the market are lots of similar specialty shops. We almost missed our train this morning because we ran one last time to the market to buy a parma ham and mozzarella sandwich and some “brewed by the cup” coffee! (more to that story later)

After the first market trip, Max and I went to the Tate to say hi to Chris on his lunch break. It was close to Max’s nap time so all we saw of the Tate on this first visit was the stark cement lobby.

These dahlias are from the Borough Market. It was fun walking home through the cobblestone streets with my bag filled with food, an arm full of flowers, and Max on my back. It was drizzly today.

Our last night in London: The funny thing about these pictures below of our nice seafood dinner at Fish is the part of the evening NOT captured in photos. You won’t see Max screaming and throwing food, licking out the butter sauce dish, grabbing for beer, etc. I guess that’s why they sat us in the back. We had to rush out of there since he was so cranky. The dinner was topped off by the rainy walk home -we were pretty soaked by the end of our “romantic” dinner out. I was wondering how Jacob and Joel would have liked walking through London in the rain. The food was delicious here by the way- not always the case in London.
